Translation
Elivagar
For friend Bearheart
Who once traveled to the land of ice
Grind up, tear apart, grind up
Ice pours along rock
Grinds and chaves all the time
Curls up, calmly grinding
Into the mountain's old arm
And rests, never resting
Grit scratches cold ice
Calves crashing cool
Screams dreadfully beautifully
Well-born flowing water
Stone whets skull
Once was eternal ancient land
Ice first
Powerfully grinding, bursting
Grindwater
Polished itself, chafing
Perpetually unstable
Freezes and grows, far from embers
Bigger it grows
Grinds up stone, tears apart rock, grinds up bone
Bone grinder, rock grinder, stone tearer
Stone whets skull
Skull time, grind time, stone times
The mountain's old mountains of power
You brought yourself
And sun shines for you
Torrent upon torrent you give
Grinding and insistently cutting
The stone fortress deeper
You feed sand, you feed dust
Perpetually unstable
Basalt old am I, mountain
Bearing the ice's burden
The high heavens' army of clouds
Invades the mountain home
Cries upon gneiss and rock
And freezes tongues shut
Perpetually unstable
And stone whets skull

i am a native german speaker, and i would like to note if this translation doesn't make a lot of sense to you that's because the original text also doesn't make a lot of sense. it's written in modern german but contains a lot of contractions, where two words have been put together to make a new one. i had to take some creative liberty with some of these. i don't know if this song is a heilung original, if it is i'm assuming it's supposed to sound fragmented and disparate and eerie in the way it doesn't sound quite right.
