غنيت مكة

غنيت مكة أهلها الصيد

و العيد يملؤ أضلعي عيدا

فرحوا فلألأ تحت كل سما

بيت على بيت الهدى زيدا

وعلى اسم رب العالمين

علا بنيانه كالشهب ممدودا

يا قارئ لقرآن صل له،

أهلي هناك وطيب البيدا

من راكع ويداه آنستا،

أن ليس يبقى الباب موصودا

أنا أينما صلى الأنام

رأت عيني السماء تفتحت جودا

لو رملة هتفت بمبدعها

شجوا لكنت لشجوها عودا

ضج الحجيج هناك فاشتبكي

بفمي هنا يغر تغريدا

و أعز رب الناس كلهم

بيضا فلا فرقت أو سودا

لا قفرة إلا و تخصبها

إلا و يعطي العطر لاعودا

الأرض ربي وردة وعدت بك

أنت تقطف فإروي موعودا

و جمال وجهك لا يزال رجا

ليرجى و كل سواه مردودا

Translation

I Sing [for] Mecca

I sing [for] Mecca and its proud people

as the Feast fills my bosom with a feast

They rejoiced, and under every sky

gleamed houses, joining the House of Guidance [in gleaming]

And by the name of the Lord of the Universe,

their buildings rose, stretching like a shooting star

O you who reads the Quran, pray for them—

My people are there—and fill the desert with a beautiful fragrance

Whoever kneels with their hands held together

Surely the door [to the sky] will not remain closed [to them]

My eye sees, wherever humans pray,

the heavens opening up generously

If a speck of sand sang for its Creator,

I would be the oud to its song

There the sounds of the pilgrims have become louder, so join yourself to my singing mouth here and let us sing

And Lord, shower all people with your generosity

whether they be white—for you never differentiate—or black

Do not leave any land infertile

Rather make all land produce a pleasant essence

The Earth, My Lord, is a rose, promised for You to pick, so water and invigorate what is promised [to You]

And the beauty of Your Face is what all hope to see

while all else is of no use
