It was pretty difficult to translate this song, because a lot of used phrases and expressions were Spanish language-specific and it was not possible to translate them literally. What I have done is more an interpretation, than the direct translation, but I did my best to keep the meaning of this song.
.
The expression “Tropecé de nuevo y con la misma piedra” is an idiom. It means “I never learn from my mistakes” (I make the same mistake over and over again). An English idiom with the closest meaning would be: “to run into the same brick wall a thousand times”.
.
1. Literally: “I didn’t measure my steps”.
2. Literally: “traps”, but I preferred to use a singular form - for me it sounds better in English and is more logical than the original expression.
3. Literally: “I never have to win”.
4. Can be also translated as “ends” or “goes away”. Literally: “gives up, abandons”.
5. Can be also translated as: “it’s only possible to cry” or “in any case you have to cry” or “the only way is to weep”.
1. | Me olvidé de vivir |
2. | Je n'ai pas changé |
3. | Abrázame |
