Translation
In the Prisons of Nantes
In the prisons of Nantes
There is a prisoner
There is a prisoner
Whom nobody goes to see
But the daughter of the jailer
She brings him what to drink
To drink and to eat
To drink and to eat
And white shirts
When he wants to change them
One day she asks him
"I want to talk to you
I want to talk to you
They say all over town
That tomorrow you will die..."
"Since it needs to be that I will die
Untie my feet
Untie my feet."
The girl was naive
His feet she did untie.
Alert, the gallant man took off
In the Loire he did jump
In the Loire he did jump
All the bells of Nantes
Did start to ring

Comments
In the third stanza though it is rather HE asking HER about himself, and then she replies beginning with "on dit...".
This might also be indicated with added quotation marks between lines 3 and 4, as is in the Breton translation, for example.
