Hace unos años

Hace unos años, a su edad
sólo pensaban en jugar.
Hoy, todo ha cambiado ya.
La niña quiere ir a bailar.

El papá dijo que no;
él no sabe del amor.
La mamá le sonrió.
La niña no salió.

Ella les explicó:
"Hoy nada es igual,
que mi vida cambió;
yo ya sé del amor".
El padre no escuchó...
La niña no salió.

Y es que, a veces, la razón
nada importa en el amor.
Que se ama sin pensar,
sin importarnos más.

"Acuérdate, mamá
-la niña le rogó-;
recuerda aquel ayer,
cuando sentiste amor".
La madre sonrió...
¡La niña al fin salió!

Lairolá, lairolá,
lairolá, lairolá,
lairolá, lairolá.
La niña al fin salió.

Esta es la historia y la canción
de una niña y de un amor.
Esta es también la realidad.
Así es la vida y nada más.

Y es que hoy todo cambió
sobre todo en el amor.
Ya no piensan en jugar.
Quieren ir a bailar.

La historia terminó.
Tuvo un feliz final:
La niña fue a bailar,
la edad no importa más,
ya sabe del amor...
¡La niña al fin salió!

Lairolá, lairolá,
lairolá, lairolá,
lairolá, lairolá,
La niña al fin salió.

Translation

A few years ago

A few years ago, at her age
they were thinking only of playing.
Today, everything has changed.
The girl wants to go dancing.

Daddy said no,
he knows nothing about love.
Mommy smiled to him.
The girl didn’t go.

She explained them:
“Today nothing is the same.
because my life has changed
and I know already about love".
Father didn't listen...
The girl didn’t go.

And sometimes the reason
doesn’t matter in love,
because one loves without thinking
and nothing matters much.

“Do you remember, mom
- the girl pleaded her -
recall that yesterday,
when you fell in love”.
The mother smiled...
Finally the girl went out.

Lairola, lairola,
lairola, lairola,
lairola, lairola.
Finally the girl went out.

This is the story and the song
of a girl and of a love.
It's also the reality.
This is the way life is.

And today everything has changed,
particularly in love.
They no longer think about playing.
They want to go dancing.

That’s the end of the story.
It was the happy ending:
The girl went dancing.
The age doesn’t matter anymore,
she already knows about love...
Finally the girl went out!

Lairola, lairola,
lairola, lairola,
lairola, lairola.
Finally the girl went out.

"she already knows the love..." perhaps substitute "about" for "the"

Thank you Steve!

Of course you’re absolutely right. Funny, because “del amor” in the first stanza I have translated as “of love” and “the love” doesn’t fit in the given context. After translating this song I never came back to read it once again. Only now.

I posted another video, but I wonder how long this link is going to work. I’ve noticed it already on many occasions that what’s on YouTube, is there only for some period of time - sometimes few month, sometimes few years - but sooner or later any link will be a dead one.
Whenever I notice it I just give a new link.

I allowed myself to edit your first comment, just to show you the way of changing the size of the video. Have a look - you’ll see it when you edit the comment. Anyway, as the proportions of the video are fixed it only matters what you write as height - width is not important - try it on your own.
