Την Όγδοη Μέρα

Την όγδοη μέρα ο Θεός
έφτιαξε και το μπαγλαμά,
το πιάνει κι ο αρχάγγελος
κι αρχίζει τον καρσιλαμά.
 
Μπαγλαμαδάκι μου, χρυσό κλειδάκι μου
την πόρτα άνοιξε μιας άπονης καρδιάς
κι από την άβυσσο μες στην Παράδεισο
να μπω μιαν ώρα κάποιας όμορφης βραδιάς.
 
Ο άγγελος κάποια βραδιά
έπεσε να ξεκουραστεί,
ο μπάτης φύσηξε κρυφά
κι έκλεψε τ’ όργανο στη γη.
 
Ο κόσμος γύρω χάνεται
κι εμείς συνέχεια μπαγλαμά,
γιατί μπορεί στο γλέντι μας
η γη να γεννηθεί ξανά.
 
Translation

On the eighth day

On the eighth day, god,
built the baglama 1
then the archangel grabs it,
and starts dansing karsilama 2
 
My sweet little baglama, goldel little key of mine,
open the door of an ever hurtless heart,
and from the abyss, take it to the heavens
on this beautiful night
 
The angel sometimes,
gets some rest,
the sea breeze blew quietly,
and stole the instrument back to earth.
 
People all around are perishing,
and we still play the baglama,
cause maybe our festivity,
might rebirth the earth again.
