یلدای حافظ

بر سر آنم که گر ز دست برآید
دست به کاری زنم که غصه سرآید
 
خلوت دل نیست جای صحبت اضداد
دیو چو بیرون رود فرشته به در آید
 
صحبت حکام ظلمت شب یلداست
نور ز خورشید جوی بو که برآید
 
بلبل عاشق تو عمر خواه که آخر
باغ شود سبز و شاخ گل به بر آید
 
غفلت حافظ در این سرا عجب نیست
هر که به میخانه رفت بی‌خبر آید
 
Translation

Yaldā e Hāfez

I have decided that if I may,
I will chase away all sadnesses,
 
My heart is no place for evil ones,
Only when the devil leaves, the angel shall come,
 
The speech of evil ones is as dark as Yaldā night
Instead, go seek the sun in the light, and hope that it gives you that light
 
O loving bird, wish for long life,
Long enough that you may see the garden in spring,
 
Hafez's lack of foresight is no surprise,
All who go to a tavern end up drunk.
